LABORATORY SERVICES MANAGER: JOB REF: HR/HQ/6/2

Kenya Dairy Board is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries established under section 4 of the Dairy Industry Act, Cap 336 of the laws of Kenya and whose primary mandate is to regulate the Dairy Industry on Kenya. The Board seeks to recruit a talented, creative, competent and dynamic scientist with proven track record as its Laboratory Services Manager.

Job Title: – Laboratory Services Manager

Reports to: – Director regulatory services

Responsibilities:
a) Implement Board’s policies, strategies and procedures;
b) Manage collection and testing samples along the dairy value chain;
c) Interpret and authorize reference and specialized testing for quality and safety;
d) Approve and manage the dissemination of findings for the quality based milk payment
system;
e) Analyse data and prepare reports to advice the Management on the quality and safety
status of dairy produce;
f) Prepare and present evidence on enforcement of the Dairy Industry Act and regulations;
g) develop quality and safety surveillance programmes;
h) identify and recommend collaboration and partnership programmes
i) design hazard and risk management programmes;
j) Supervise and mentor staff in the division.
Minimum requirements:
a) Have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in relevant work and at least three
(3) years in a Senior position;
b) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Chemical, Micro Biological
Technology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
c) Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Chemical, Micro Biological
Technology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
d) Certificate in Supervisory skills course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a
recognized institution;
e) Certificate in Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
recognized institution;
f) Proficiency in Computer applications;
g) Shown competence in work performance and results;
h) Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

m) Knowledge of the country relevant legislation.

iv) Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and
v) Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) Certificate and
